Pogo Mine
A visit to the underground gold mine located near Delta Junction, Alaska. Depart Westmark Hotel at 7 a.m. by bus to tour the new Pogo Gold Mine project located 145 km southeast of Fairbanks in the upper Goodpaster River Valley. The Pogo deposit has a defined probable resource of 7 million tonnes grading 16.12 g/t. Fort Knox Gold Mine
Depart Westmeark Hotel at 8 a.m. by bus to tour the Fort Knox Mine operated by Fairbanks Gold Mining Co., subsidiary of Kinross Gold Corp. This ope-pit mine is 42 km northeast of Fairbanks and mined by conventional open pit methods. The Fort Knox Mine will have produced 4 million ounces of gold by the time of the field trip at an average grade of 0.025 ounces per ton (0.857 g/t Au). A new heap leach facility is projected to continue gold production through 2017.
